The Honorable Bernie Sanders, Chairman
The Honorable Lindsey Graham, Ranking Member
U.S. Senate Committee on the Budget Washington, D.C. 20510
Dear Chairman Sanders, Ranking Member Graham, and Members of the Committee:
On behalf of the Senior Executives Association (SEA) – which represents the interests of career federal executives in the Senior Executive Service (SES), those in Senior Level (SL), Scientific and Professional (ST) and equivalent positions and other senior career federal leaders – I write to convey the association’s strong support for the nominations of the Honorable Shalanda D. Young to be Director, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and for the Honorable Nani A. Coloretti to be Deputy Director of OMB.
Acting Director Young has proven herself as a capable leader at OMB, and again deserves to move forward through the Senate with bipartisan support. Ensuring there is accountable, Senate-confirmed leadership at OMB is crucial to effective management of the Executive Branch.
Ms. Coloretti served in 2020 as a volunteer member of SEA’s ad hoc task force of current and former federal executives focused on assessing the concrete opportunity areas for our federal government to improve management quality. The task force released in early 2021 its report, “Creating and Supporting a Management Quality Improvement Learning Center for Federal Managers”. Ms. Coloretti was a thoughtful and active participant, bringing to bear her extensive leadership experiences working in multiple federal agencies. She would be an incredible asset as Deputy Director of OMB and the Association strongly supports her nomination.
Thank you for your consideration of SEA’s perspective. Please have your staff contact SEA Director of Policy and Outreach Jason Briefel ([email protected]g; 202-971-3300) for further information.
Sincerely,
Robert E. Corsi, Jr.
Presidentt
